About Me

Kaitlyn Fairbanks, born in Georgia, is a current junior at Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA, pursuing a degree in English Literature. Their interest in literature began young and, as they got older, they began wondering how literature could be protected in the digital age, leading them to become interested in librarianship, archival work, and media collections.

Kaitlyn also has an interest in technology. Throughout their college career, they have been learning Python and working on graphic design.

Kaitlyn is involved with Agnes Scott College’s independent newspaper The Profile on the executive board as the Creative Director, photographer, and media specialist. While in this position, they were directly involved in the design of several print editions and the maintenance of The Profile’s website.

After completing their degree, Kaitlyn plans to attend graduate school to pursue a master’s in Library and Information Sciences. With a deep desire to maintain the public’s access to information and a belief that there is nothing more powerful than knowledge, Kaitlyn wishes to work in a library or archive, working to defend that access, as well as further optimize it so that it is easily accessible to everyone.

During their free time, Kaitlyn will usually be drawing, writing, sewing, or playing WikiLadders.
